⚡ *BREAKING* Mayor & TLC Announce EV Exemption To TLC Plate Cap

The NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) Board, as expected, passed the Green Rides Initiative today that calls for the gradual electrification of NYC’s TLC Fleet (full zero emission fleet (ZEV) by 2030). However, and very notably, the City & TLC also made a surprise announcement that the EV ⚡ exemption to the FHV License Pause (a/k/a TLC Plate Cap) would return, starting tomorrow! In simple terms, if a driver or fleet acquires an electric vehicle (or other zero emission vehicle (ZEV) we assume), they will be able to apply to get their own TLC Plate. The wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) remains as well.
As this is breaking story we want to gather the details first and wait for more TLC disclosure and specifics.
