⚡🤔 EV TLC Plates: What's Going On? What's Next?
We share a video summary overviewing the last four weeks since the shock decision to reinstate the EV exemption to TLC Plate Cap. Now that NY Supreme Court TRO is in effect, what's next?
There’s been a lot of news over the past four weeks in the NYC for-hire transportation industry. From the shock decision to reinstate to EV exemption to the FHV License Pause (TLC Plate Cap) to a judge ordering the issuance of new EV TLC Plates (temporarily) stopped after 9am today to the 5 day rush to submit new EV TLC applications before the judge’s order went into effect...a lot is going on!
We’ve been covering it all, but we thought a video summary sharing some thoughts might be helpful at this point, given the judge’s order is in now in effect.
In terms of next steps, our understanding is that there is another meeting between the judge, NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) and New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA), tomorrow. Based on recently released court documents, it also appears the TLC has until Wednesday, November 29th to submit a response and then NYTWA has until Wednesday, December 13th to reply.
We hope you enjoy the video!
Note: the last hour is an audio podcast with our friends at NYC Taxi News, featuring NYC Taxi News founder Abe Mittleman, taxi industry expert Carolyn Protz, Nancy Reynoso (livery industry expert + city’s first green taxi driver!) and AutoMarketplace founder Dawood Mian. That discussion was recorded on November 4th and was already uploaded to Substack on November 5th.
As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or by emailing us at info@automarketplace.com.
