🔐 *NEW* TLC Plate Storage Program To Be Discussed Tomorrow
With pandemic era FHV License (TLC Plate) Storage Program ending, TLC is proposing a new short-term plate storage program
Pandemic era TLC Plate Storage Program ends Aug 31st
Proposed short-term TLC Plate Storage Program allows FHV License holders to store their plates for up to 60 days, once every 2 year license period
Existing program & newly proposed program DO NOT overlap, if you don’t remove stored TLC Plates by August 31st, you will permanently lose plates
TLC hearing tomorrow at 10am will discuss new storage program
With the pandemic era FHV License (TLC Plate) Storage coming to an end, the TLC is holding a hearing tomorrow at 10am to discuss a new short-term TLC Plate Storage Program. To access the hearing, go to TLC’s homepage around 10am tomorrow.
As we covered recently, the launch of a new short-term TLC Plate Storage program, DOES NOT overlap with the pre-existing FHV License Storage program ending on August 31st. In other words, a TLC driver or fleet cannot keep their FHV License stored by transferring their TLC Plates from the expiring storage program to the newly proposed one.
To sign up to speak at the hearing call (212) 676-1135 or email tlcrules@tlc.nyc.gov by 5pm today. You can also submit comments via mail, fax, and on a website (see below for more details).
*NEW* TLC Plate Storage Program
TLC’s newly proposed rule would establish a *new*, short-term storage program for For-Hire Vehicle (FHV) Licenses (TLC Plates) called the “Short-Term FHV License Storage Program”. This new program will permit TLC-plated vehicles to be put in storage ONCE during every 2-year license term for up to 60 days.
The TLC believes the program will be useful for drivers who may be traveling overseas for an extended period or who may be experiencing issues with their vehicle. Additionally, *all* suspensions must be cleared, and all fines and fees must be paid to the TLC. TLC Plates must be surrendered to the DMV within 60 days prior to the storage date. Only surrendering TLC Plates to the DMV IS NOT sufficient to enter the storage program. Furthermore, if a TLC-plated vehicle is in the process of a base, plate or vehicle transfer it WILL NOT be allowed to be placed into storage.
Finally, similar to the pandemic era program, if a FHV License holder does not remove their TLC Plates from storage after 60 days, they risk permanently losing their FHV License.

This is stupid you can just park your car for 2 mths take off full coverage what is 2 mths ? Waste of time putting it in because you’ll have to have your car inspected again once you pull out your plate .
If a driver can’t work it’s better to rent out the plate 2 mths will not do anything for them if repairs are delayed
