๐ Passengers Rob Taxi Drivers in Manhattan & The Bronx
Same group of passengers rob two yellow cab drivers, in separate incidents, at gunpoint in Manhattan and the Bronx on November 20th. NYPD needs help finding suspects
The NYPD is searching for three women accused of robbing two taxi drivers, in separate incidents, at gunpoint in Manhattan and the Bronx.
The first incident occurred around 1am on Monday, November 20th. The NYPD said a 60 year old yellow cab driver got into an argument with the three women, who were passengers in his taxi, on Lexington Avenue near E 42nd St.. During the argument, the suspects are alleged to have thrown a drink and a pulled a gun on the driver. They then stole his phone, before running into Grand Central Terminal.
The second incident, which is reported to have happened two hours later, involved a 59 year old yellow cab driver who was dropping the same group at the intersection of Ryer Avenue and E.180th Street in the Bronx. According to the NYPD, similar to the first robbery, the group pulled a gun and demanded the driver hand over his valuables, which included a wallet containing $210 and his phone.
Thankfully, neither driver was physically injured.

I have nothing but sheer contempt for these thieves. Some cab drivers make little money, so these robberies are insult to injury. Thank God no one was physically hurt but it does mess with your mental and emotional sense of safety every time you go out. This is yet another reason why I drive for rideshare. When I drove a yellow taxi I had more problems with passengers who thought they were anonymous than with rideshare passengers. I hope these โladiesโ are caught, arrested, denied bail, prosecuted, and sent to prison for these serious crimes.
