In what will likely be seen as a welcome move among many in the TLC community, especially the taxi medallion industry, the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) announced an end to its pandemic era FHV License Storage Program.

Initially, the Program was created as a response to the pandemic emergency and the risk that tens of thousands of drivers and fleets would permanently lose their TLC plates as trip volume (income) disappeared, making it difficult to pay insurance premiums to keep their FHV licenses active.

Based on the latest TLC disclosure, 4,724 FHV licenses are in storage (as of July 2022).
