Uber and Lyft Drivers in California Will Remain Contractors (NY Times)
After spending over $200 million promoting Proposition 22, making it the most expensive ballot campaign in California history, California rideshare companies are exempted from AB5, a new law that was set to make Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart and other gig economy contractors, employees.
58% voted in favor of Proposition 22.

New York City’s New Quarantine Travel Rules Begin, New Jersey Adds States To Advisory List (CBS NY)
Members of the NYC’s Sheriff’s Office said they will be stopping vehicles periodically at the tunnels. Drivers can expect questions about where they are coming from, if they’ve traveled in the last 14 days, and if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Travelers to NY from other states with high infection rates can get out of the mandatory 14-day quarantine by testing negative for the virus 72 hours before arriving in the city, quarantining for three days and then taking another COVID test on the fourth day and testing negative.

Livery cab passenger shot, killed by moped-riding gunman in Queens (1010 WINS)
A livery cab was stopped at a red light at Broadway and 81st Street in Elmhurst just before 1:30 a.m. when two men on a moped pulled up beside the vehicle.
The passenger on the moped fired multiple rounds at the cab, striking a 27-year-old cab passenger in the chest.
