❤️ Viral TikTok Series Helps NYC TLC Driver
When Abdur Rauf Khan, the first TLC driver to agree to participate in now popular TikTok series 'Keep the Meter Running,' became victim of a hit-and-run incident, the series creator helped raise $30k+
Last November, we wrote a piece about a trending TikTok series called Keep the Meter Running. In the series, stand-up comedian Kareem Rahma, who’s late father used to drive a cab in Minneapolis, hails a NYC taxi and strikes up a conversation with a willing driver.
As we highlighted in that article, Pakistani origin NYC TLC driver Abdur Rauf Khan was the first person that agreed to participate. The footage went viral.
After receiving an emphatic “No” from more than a half-dozen drivers who didn’t want to be filmed, the trio met Pakistani geologist-turned-Big Apple taxi driver Abdur. He agreed to give them a glimpse into his world in Queens.
Full Circle
Recently, Kareem informed his audience that Abdur had reached out. Abdur unfortunately had been out of work for few months after a bad accident involving the yellow cab he was driving. In fact, he states he was the victim of a hit & run and shows pictures of the accident and the impact it’s had on his ability to work & live ☟.

$31,210
Kareem just shared some images on his Instagram, including a picture of a $31,210 check, raised via GoFundMe, made out to Abdur Rauf Khan. We thought it was a great ending to the story and wanted to share it with our readers.
