Historic Medallion Relief Programs (MRP) set to end in April. Debt restructuring saved many yellow cab owner-operators from bankruptcy. Release of new TLC Plates undid a lot of progress made under MRP
Good article. Tlc needs to stop wav plates also. Too many cars on road. On August 2018 tlc stop issued tlc plates ,there were around 110,000 plates out there. And when they announced it , in next few days people apllied for for another 10.000 plates . How about lenders who will not get their money now, becouse yellow cab bussnes will die.
That's crazy how tlc act unprofessional, add more cars , no charging stations. Idg and tlc saying let's gives plates to people who will drive car by themselves, so make rule if tlc plate under personal name , not allow them to add another person to insurance, let's them work by themselves. I belive 70%-90% get ev plates to rent it out not to work themselves. Look at Facebook how many tesla for rent and ev plates for rent.
Agree on a lot of your points. We are also seeing a lot of individuals putting EVs up for rent on Facebook. This further shows TLC didnβt really understand the consequences of their surprise EV exemption reinstatement, all of this was fairly predictable π€·ββοΈ
Mediation owners don't want to participate in this program becouse they still have to pay money, and when till tlc issue more plates bussnes will die, it's better to file bankruptcy then survive in such industry when they do what they want
Do you know how the TLC collects the information regarding working driver and working cars? Is it electronically collected based on meters in the car???
Yes, we believe so. According to the TLC this is how they collect the trip data (assume they extrapolate the working driver and car data from the same source, but good question): "The data used in the attached datasets were collected and provided to the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) by technology providers authorized under the Taxicab & Livery Passenger Enhancement Programs (TPEP/LPEP). The trip data was not created by the TLC, and TLC makes no representations as to the accuracy of these data" (https://www.nyc.gov/site/tlc/about/tlc-trip-record-data.page)

Think many taxi medallion owners / drivers feel this way right now
