Re: The taximeter rate increase this is very good news. Yellows have gone a long time without a raise. It was due to having to compete with Uber's predatory pricing. However, justice-wise what should happen is the $2.50 and .50 surcharges should be removed. Both were wildly unfair and frankly cruel. Do that and yellow drivers make more, passengers don't really pay more and all is well. Uber should always have been significantly more expensive than yellows. They never paid for a Medallion and function as a virtual street hail.
