Remaining application for 400 EV-Only TLC Plates, open to both individuals and business entities, will go live on Wednesday, March 29th
The New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) released more details on the issuance of 1,000 NEW EV-only FHV Licenses (a/k/a TLC Plates). The TLC states that beginning on Wednesday, March 15th applications for the initial 600 (of 1,000) new EV-only TLC Plates, exclusively for individual drivers, will open and provides a link.
The regulator discloses the the following eligibility checklist:
Must have an active TLC Driver license
Cannot have an active For-Hire Vehicle license (a/k/a TLC Plate)
Must have valid Social Security Number (SSN) in your name
Must have valid e-mail address (This email will be used to communicate with you throughout the application process)
The TLC also gives the following guidance below. The remaining 400 (of 1,000) NEW EV-Only TLC Plate application, that both individuals and business entities can apply for, will open on Wednesday, March 29th.
“Once the form is submitted, TLC will review it and eligible drivers will receive an email with a unique authorization code and instructions on how to complete the application process. Once a driver receives the eligibility email about the application process, drivers may purchase an EV. Ineligible drivers will receive an email notifying them they are not eligible.
Eligible drivers will have 120 days to buy the EV and begin the application process. This process begins with the eligible driver affiliating with a TLC Licensed Base and the Base will submit a request (a Base Affirmation) to TLC to begin the vehicle licensing process. TLC anticipates that the Statement of Interest form for the 400 licenses for anyone (including drivers) will be available on March 29, 2023 on a first-come first-served basis.”
