🟥 BREAKING: Uber Successfully Delays December 19th NYC TLC Driver Pay Raise
Uber has successfully delayed the implementation of a NYC TLC driver pay raise, ahead of its planned December 19th implementation. Yellow taximeter increase is not impacted
Uber’s recent legal action in New York State Supreme Court, which alleged the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (NYC TLC) manipulated inflation data to pass an abnormal driver pay increase (set to go into effect next Monday), has been successful in DELAYING the TLC driver minimum pay increase proposal.
Lyft, the only other company besides Uber subjected to the pay raise, will also be able to delay following the new inflation adjustment to the TLC driver minimum pay formula. TO BE CLEAR, the court action delays the driver pay increase, until it can be fully litigated. Uber has not won the case, it has more time to make its legal argument.
The yellow cab taximeter increase is not impacted by Uber’s legal action and will still go into effect next Monday.
According to a court filing, an in person hearing on the matter will take place on the Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 11am at the New York County Courthouse (60 Centre Street in Manhattan).
Initial TLC Driver Reaction
Prominent driver advocacy groups have begun to express their anger at the ruling and delay. The NYC TLC has yet to make a statement on the court’s ruling.
I believe this is TLC rule they didn't follow , they used a different index, they'll have to pass a new rule and i think as well the city council , using the new index which is more costly to Uber, the new index is a transportation index, which is correct, after all they are in transportation

Currently on London’s mains stream television, Uber are advertising how it’s drivers who are now all employees have holiday pay , sick pay and other fringe benefits.
Bearing in mind it spent billions of dollars on advertising and lobbying the political elite on trying to defend its drivers are all self employed contractors.
