We share the official Revel press release below, which is promotional in nature, but allows you to understand the company’s goals (regardless of your specific opinion, it’s important to at least listen). One stat that jumped out at us was Revel employs 730 TLC-licensed drivers!
Mayor Eric Adams Performs Inaugural Charge at Revel’s New EV Charging Superhub in South Williamsburg
The 15-stall fast charging station will be open to the public 24/7 and can charge an EV in 10-20 minutes
The South Williamsburg Superhub is the largest “ultrafast” charging site in New York state
Brooklyn, New York — Today, Revel, the Brooklyn-based electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and mobility company, alongside Mayor Eric Adams, TLC Commissioner David Do and EDC President & CEO Andrew Kimball announced its second public EV fast charging station is now complete. Mayor Eric Adams helped unveil the South Williamsburg Superhub by performing the inaugural charge with one of Revel’s rideshare EVs. The new South Williamsburg Superhub has 15 public EV charging stalls capable of charging speeds of up to 150 kW, considered “ultrafast” charging — it is the largest ultrafast site anywhere in New York state.
The new charging station is located in the garage of the historic Dime building at 260 S 4th St., Brooklyn, where Revel recently moved its corporate headquarters. Like Revel’s flagship Superhub in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, the South Williamsburg Superhub will be open to the public 24/7, have no entry fee and be accessible to any brand EV.
“New York City is plugging into a cleaner, greener future,” said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. “This station, the largest publicly accessible ultra-fast charging station in New York state, will help support the electrification of New York City’s Uber and Lyft fleet by 2030, as I announced in my State of the City address this year. Drivers want to drive electric vehicles, but New York City needs more chargers. Thanks to Revel, we are making it possible.”
“New Yorkers want to go electric, many already have, but before EVs can become the main way we get around on four-wheels, we need more places to get a quick and reliable charge. Before this year, the outlook for significant new EV infrastructure was not optimistic. I’m proud to say that’s no longer the case,” said Frank Reig, CEO & Co-Founder of Revel. “Revel is not just changing the landscape of public fast charging in the city, with the South Williamsburg Superhub and more sites coming over the next year, we’re creating it. Thank you Mayor Adams, Congresswoman Velazquez and the many other public leaders who are making the electrification mission possible.”
Revel is building public fast charging stations where they can have the greatest positive impact on New York’s EV adoption, especially in the for-hire-vehicle industry. Four in five for-hire vehicle drivers live in the outer boroughs with scarce access to public EV charging. As Mayor Eric Adams works toward his administration’s goal to electrify all rideshare trips by 2030, Revel is committed to providing the foundational infrastructure, jobs and services to help make it possible. Currently, Revel employs over 930 New Yorkers, 730 who are TLC-licensed employee drivers operating Revel’s all-electric rideshare fleet.
The South Williamsburg Superhub is the first of Revel’s new Superhubs to complete development amid its larger charging network expansion. In January 2023, Revel announced plans to triple public access to fast charging in New York City. Within the next year, Revel will open three more Superhubs: a 60-stall site in Maspeth, Queens; a 30-stall site in the South Bronx, the first public fast charging station anywhere in that borough; and a 10-stall site in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Revel will also open a 20-stall site in Red Hook, Brooklyn, the “Red Hook Recharge Zone,” which will have vehicle-to-grid technology and solar+storage to support local grid resiliency. Revel’s South Williamsburg Superhub will contribute to the company’s efforts to strengthen New York City’s grid. Revel’s all-electric rideshare fleet will participate in managed charging at the new site, charging during off-peak hours for the grid. It will also participate in demand response, incentivizing EV users to charge their vehicles outside of periods with the highest demand on the grid.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORTING QUOTES
“The increased adoption of electric vehicles will help accomplish New York City’s goals of reducing carbon emissions and our dependence on fossil fuels,” said Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez. “The opening of the South Williamsburg Superhub will make it easier for New Yorkers to go electric through reliable and publicly accessible charging infrastructure and help create a greener future for our city.”
“This new Superhub just expanded the city’s map of fast-charging infrastructure, and we are excited about the other Superhubs coming very soon,” said NYC Taxi and Limousine Commissioner David Do. “These Superhubs will support the transformation of the city’s for-hire fleets to fully electric, and they are exactly the kind of Investments we need to transform New York into an EV-friendly city.”
“NYLCV applauds Revel for opening their latest–and largest–electric vehicle fast-charging hub in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. New York City needs a robust fast charging network so New Yorkers - most of whom can't charge at home - know they can switch from fossil powered cars and trucks to electric vehicles,” said Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “By providing EV fast-charging stations across the city that are accessible to any EV, regardless of make and model, Revel is helping ensure the infrastructure is in place to meet Mayor Adams’s goal to electrify the for-hire vehicle sector by 2030.”
“The future of transportation is electric, and the future is now,” said Con Edison CEO Tim Cawley. “The South Williamsburg Superhub will make it easier for drivers to switch to electric vehicles, which will play an integral role in creating the clean energy future New Yorkers want.”
“Public charging hubs, like Revel’s Superhub, play a crucial role in reducing transportation emissions and improving air quality in our communities. Few New Yorkers have access to dedicated parking, so providing drivers with a convenient and reliable way to charge will encourage the transition away from fossil fuel-powered vehicles. We look forward to more accessible and affordable charging stations and celebrate this important step towards a cleaner and more sustainable future for all,” said Joy Gardner, Executive Director of Empire Clean Cities.

This is revel business model. Not the Tlc ride share. The scooter business was a big failure. Once these drivers try to go union they will shut down their ride share service.
